L'Agrifoglio

Gaiole in Chianti - Siena and Chianti

6 3 2 Private Pool
Something of a Tardis, this renovated cottage in Bricciano, a hamlet of 18th-century farmhouses in the heart of the Chianti hills, is a delight. The villa is compact but its main rooms are surprisingly spacious and, with windows on two sides, light. When you see L’Agrifoglio’s position and views, across a landscape of olive groves, vineyards and wooded upper slopes, you’ll understand why it appealed to the artist who restored it. And an artistic sensibility infuses the whole property, from the pleasing interior décor and entrance loggia, which makes a wonderful outdoor dining room, to the elegant private infinity pool set in a generous secluded garden a brief walk away. Everything has been managed with a lovely simplicity.

The cottage comfortably absorbs parties of up to six – families, friends and couples have all stayed happily here. You’ll want to enjoy being part of this wine-growing region – Gaiole, one of its most popular centres, is your local town, just 10 minutes’ drive away; but you are also well placed for exploring the riches of Siena, Florence and San Gimignano. While there’s a wealth of places to explore from L’Agrifoglio, you may find it difficult to tear yourself away from this refuge. We particularly love the infinity pool and its calm surroundings: a day could happily slide by moving between the water, sunloungers, jasmine-scented sleeping platform and shaded poolside dining table. The villa’s furnished loggia, with equally good views, will be another favourite spot for al-fresco meals, morning or evening. And don’t rule out L’Agrifoglio if you’re holidaying in the spring or autumn: its fireplace in the main room will keep you cosy.

We had a wonderful 10 day stay! The house is exactly as pictured and very well equipped. Holly was a pleasure and always ready to help if we had any questions or needed help finding a Restaurant/ making reservations. The (dirt) road to the house is very bumpy, so it is good to be careful. We traveled in a completely full station wagon and had no real issues. There is a quite deep rain ditch before turning in to the parking spot, but if you go slow, it is fine. Maybe a metal grate would be helpful here.. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend if you are looking for peace, quiet and beautiful views.
