Villa Oliveta

Villa Oliveta’s hillside position is hard to beat, offering far-reaching views of the olive groves from which the villa takes its name and the distant castles of Meleto & Brolio. In the morning while the sun rises you can watch the mist over the valley slowly receding. The villa is set in a cluster of buildings. The garden is private but the front of the villa can be overlooked by its neighbouring properties.

Its location on the doorstep of lively Gaiole, one of the main market towns of Chianti, makes this a fantastic choice if you wish to mix rural seclusion and time spent mingling with the locals. Anyone wishing to tour the vineyards of this world-famous wine-making region will find plenty of opportunities to taste wine and olive oil at nearby cellar doors.


The owners of Villa Oliveta have a real eye for design and you can revel in their attractive work at this lovely villa. They’ve recently built the stone house in traditional style, but inside you'll find the interiors fuse classic Tuscan features and tasteful modern décor.

Step through the front door into the lounge, where two comfy sofas have been positioned to focus not only on a flatscreen TV but for the view through the glass double doors of a second sitting area that opens on one side to the garden. This is truly indoor-outdoor living.

To the left is a space with a sleek fitted kitchen and a light-wood table. Throughout the villa, cream floor tiles and white walls promote an airy feel and highlight the beautiful terracotta tiled and wood-beamed ceilings.

All the bedrooms contrast the dominant neutral palette with a striking block of colour or intricate pattern. All, too, have views of the surrounding Chianti hills. But that scene is best enjoyed from the terrace overlooking the garden, the gazebo, or in the cool waters of the pool.
