Villa Poggiarello

Make your way along an avenue of cypress trees to find Villa Poggiarello, a cluster of charming stone buildings set on a hilltop. This trio of two apartments and a cottage commands remarkable views in every direction of vine-laced fields rolling out to distant shimmering hills.

It’s peaceful and quiet up here, yet there’s much to enjoy close by. Do some world-class sightseeing in Siena and Florence, stroll the ancient streets of the historic market towns of Radda and Gaiole, and sample the liquid fruits of local wineries. The Chianti Sculpture Park is a near neighbour.

When you’re done you can return to this comfortable villa pleasantly decorated in neutral shades and furnished with a mix of comfy modern and antique furniture. All the better to let the lovely traditional Tuscan features sing in the spacious living areas – old hearths, shuttered windows, terracotta floors, and tiled and beamed ceilings.

With seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for a party of up to 12 guests. It’s a convivial place where you can come together easily – and slink off to a quiet corner when the mood takes you. There are a couple of unoccupied rooms at the property that are closed to guests.

During the day you’ll be drawn to the cool water of the infinity pool or a sunlounger at its edge to bask in the beautiful views. While at lunch or dinner you’ll inevitably gather in the shaded dining areas by the house, in the courtyard and in the vast garden. Up here in the hills, you’ve found a little piece of Tuscan heaven.
