Villa Ribosto

Perched in the hills in the heart of the Garfagnana, north of Lucca, this villa offers astonishing views. You’ll feel like it's all just yours to survey, even though the property is set on the edge of a village, close enough to a community to feel connected.

One of this villa’s major advantages is the unusual arrangement across two buildings, a main house and an annex, which makes it a great choice for groups of friends or extended families holidaying together. With two en-suite double bedrooms in each part, this is a very comfortable choice for up to eight people. Plus, in the annex the suites sit one on top of the other with their own private entrances, offering an extra touch of privacy.

On arrival, you can access the upper storeys of the two properties or descend an external flight of steps to the ground-floor level. Step inside either building and you’ll find restful lodgings with traditional features such as terracotta floors, tiled and beamed ceilings, and original hearths.

The mountain location means double aspect windows in the bedrooms of the main house are insect net free and let the sun flood in. It’s a sense of space that is amplified throughout this villa by the light, bright décor with its sunny splashes of colour and pretty murals depicting nature and birdlife. The attractive mixture of modern and antique pieces has the added flourish of ornate mirrors and bedsteads.

At ground-floor level, you’ll discover spacious outdoor terraces set with places to dine or relax where you need never take your gaze from that fantastic view. There are more vantage points by the freeform swimming pool, which has relaxing massage jets and a waterfall. Here, three gazebos have been carefully positioned to look out across the valley. Linger, but not for too long, there is so much to explore in this very special part of Tuscany. For those looking to explore at night, on Saturdays throughout the summer there is an evening venue just over a kilometer away until four in the morning.
